The Hush Sound are a pop band. They're just not all that popular yet. Their catchy melodies are radio friendly and the shared vocals of Bob Morris and Greta Salpeter are crisp and clear. The band crafts perfect power pop songs, nearly all of which could be their first hit single.
But some close minded people would cut themselves off from the band simply because of the label they're signed to. The Hush Sound is on Fueled By Ramen alongside the likes of Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is.. and Panic! At The Disco. But the band shares almost no similarities with its pop-punk label-mates. Instead of overused and simple guitar variations The Hush Sound adds other elements such as the piano and a horn section on several tracks. "Like Vines" is the bands second full length release, the first being 2005's "So Sudden."
This album has many standout songs among the already great tracks but the best ones are those in which Salpeter contributes the crooning. Her voice is perfect for soft ballads like "Magnolia," which is a personal favorite. Other highlights include "We Intertwined" and "Where We Went Wrong."
Overall, this album is sure to stick in your head for it's originality and catchiness.
