Ceremony is amazing, it was my introduction to her too. You should check The Miraculous too rabid, it rips, and yeah I can see the similarities with Chelsea Wolfe before she hardened or Darkher, but man I feel she has smth really special, smth that only she can do.
And correct Pete, the album cover still gives me the willies.

tbh the only one that leaves me half cold is her debut which is still good, but the rest are all incredible.

Great review, Dewi.
I've only listened to Ugly and Vengeful, but I'll probably get around to the rest at some point. I know that song was 17 minutes, but I'm hoping the other tracks are a little less drawn out.

The only other really long track is the opener (12 min). The rest are a relatively "short" 5-7 min.

I get mad Swans vibes by the one song I tried. Will have to check.

Good point Pete, there is a certain Swans influence here, even more on The Miraculous I would say.

If that means you haven't oh yeah Boney. I am sure you'll hate when they go weird but you'll love it when they go massive.

Swans have always daunted me, not only because I’m not sure they’re my thing but also the sizie of the discog and the album’s therein. One day though - I’m aware of how influential they’ve been so I’m sure they’re worth hearing just for that even if I don’t end up particularly liking them.

I haven't jammed their whole discography so I am not the one to rec you where to start. "The Seer" is amazing though, that i can tell you.

I’d start with White Light and Great Annihilator... the mid-career albums that saw them at their most accessible. Then you can move backward through their scabrous, noisy early days, or proceed to their 2-hour double albums, which are just as intimidating for different reasons.

A collabo between Anna and Swans would be mind blowing though. o_0!
