i don't hear a lot of coldplay in this. i mean, i get the comparison, but this is very much its own thing.
tried to make my own is a soty for me. the closer is damn good too

Also I've decided that every average is effectively 0.2 less than what it should be. So many alts and contrarians nowadays, it's almost impossible for a new album to have a 4.4 avg like Jane Doe, etc back in the day. Carrie & Lowell for example has a 4.2 which, while phenomenal, doesn't do it justice. It could be the best folk album of our generation and I feel like in 2008 it would have been rated much higher. I don't know maybe I'm just old. Get off my lawn!

yeah that sucks. ratings nowadays are skewed (not just on sputnik, i see this all over the internet). and agreed hard about carrie and lowell - and people no doubt make fun of us for saying that lol. would probably say it's top 5 albums of the last 10 years. can't think of another album off the top of my head that i've replayed as much.

I'm impressed by how utterly disarming & inoffensive this is, to the point where it becomes bland yet not in the least bit irksome, like a comforting blandness. The ultimate neutrality & therefore perfect 2.5/5.
