This might be close to my AOTY. Amazing songwriting and storytelling

People digging this ought to check out Bear Creek and Give Up the Ghost. Ghost is probably her objective “best” and Creek was my first love and remains my favorite of hers. Her older stuff does have a bit more of a generic pop rock feel at times though which could be offputting to some.

The second song on this album really sounds like something else but I can’t quite work out the influence :/

Okay so when this review first popped up and I read that it was singer-songwriter stuff I didn't bother to listen. But as it cropped up on the staff top 50 I thought I'd give it a go. Really surprised how much I like this. Was just washing the dishes holding back the tears as this album made full contact with my soul.

her albums are actually really collaborative. she writes songs with the Hanseroth twins (who play in her band) and they do all the background vocals.

this album in particular has a lot of star power attached to it. dave cobb and shooter jennings produced it. scott avett painted the cover. elizabeth moss was in the 'party of one' video and sam smith did a duet with her on another version of that song. she was already pretty big because of her album 'the story' but i'm glad she's getting even bigger.

Party of One closes this thing so powerfully, it's not even funny.

I'm scared to check this out for some reason, but if it's Chan's AOTY I'll definitely give it a go soon
