“the joke” is always on the radio where I live (WFUV in particular maybe) and it’s fire

Glad to see Brandi getting more buzz here (though I guess my reviewing this helped). She has such a solid discog.

for any brandi fans who haven't seen this yet, she did an amazing performance on KEXP earlier this year. the high note she hits at the end of 'whatever you do' is just jaw-dropping, almost unbelievable

"“the joke” is always on the radio where I live (WFUV in particular maybe) and it’s fire"
almost seems a weird choice when Hold Out Your Hand and Sugartooth seem much more radio-friendly

sugartooth might be my favorite song here
the way she sings "and took it to a place called JESUS ROCK" does stuff to me

Hold Out Your Hand is a SOTY candidate. Sugartooth and The Mother round out my top 3, and yeah this album holds up really well

This got nominated for Grammy AOTY!?
Between this and Golden Hour it’s the first time in forever that two albums I genuinely love have been nominated.

Every song on this album has been my favorite at on time or another this year. Nice to see the Grammy nod, anything that gets it more attention.

It's part of our ~journey through 2018~ featurette. We'll be rotating through some of the more highly regarded albums of the year for a good portion of December in lieu of 21 more days of stagnancy. It also might help to jog some memories as they craft their 2018 lists.

"The Joke" is incredible for sure. Great thing with Brandi is that even if none of her albums are (imo) truly incredible all the way through, they all have a handful of classic tracks.
