Decent album. The name and cover suck however. It's no Nurse.

This album is alright, but a big step down from Sonic Nurse. I wouldn't say they are a worse band for making it, or that it's killed their career, however.

Is it just me or are old bands the only bands making music anymore? LOL. Sheez... so many new releases in the last year from old bands. Not that I'm bitching. I wouldn't have cared if this album had a harmonica and a banjo. Sonic Youth doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. They've made more albums in their career then most labels do. LOL.

w00t :-)

Ok... maybe I would be bothered by a banjo...

Saw these guys at McCarren Park Pool in the city with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Great show, just on some songs they sounded really lazy and just threw it out, like they wanted to finish the show quick. Guess they got tired, it was the second night. Thurston's old.

They really did, I wish they had played Rapture. Thats probably the best song on the CD and they absolutley killed with that song at Lolla. Then again even Reena sounded pretty good from the main stage.

I watched some recent performances of their older songs, and they take them all way too slow. It's kind of annoying.

good review, and as you say, a solid Sonic Youth album as ever even if they still ahven't really progressed. For some reason SY still have the ability to make it sound fresh 25 years on.

and yes, 'Pink Steam' is a stunning song, I adore it!

"Incinerate" is an absolutely marvelous song. I want to get this.

I enjoy this album. Or at least some songs off it. The lyrics really bring it down a lot. Rats has some of the stupidest lyrics I've ever heard.

I was actually kinda dissapointed by this album since I'm something of a SY fan. It was just a little too soft for me. If I had bought this album 4 months ago I would have loved it but I'm in to much heavier music now. Still, it is an enjoyable listen even if I don't find it particularly exciting.

Boring like most stuff they did after Daydream Nation. This contains absolutely nothing even remotely interesting. At least they don't drag out every song to 7 minutes for no reason like on Sonic Nurse.

love this album. obviously not as good as Daydream Nation,
but few people can even touch that. 'Incinerate', 'turquoise boy' and 'Rats' are probably my favorites from this album.
really great stuff.
and who's to say that Sonic youth doesn't push the boundaries of rock anymore, when they were one of the first to smash them.

love SY.
