An Cat Dubh and Electric co are unquestionably top 10 u2 songs but its also got its moments that still dont really do anything for me. not big on the closer either which usually has a negative impact on my enjoyment of an album. some nice outtakes to it, and again the good songs knock it out of the fucking park

Band has always been a massive, corporate all consuming blob led by a cunt. Burn it, throw it into the fire

Rodrigo90: U2 isnt`t Bon Jovi. But, U2 today can be anything, let`s say, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars or Kendrick Lamar. It is sad how a great band like U2 has turned their carrer into a crappy act.

Onionbubs: You are being too generous, when you rated HTDAAB: 3.5 stars or Songs of Experience: 3 stars.

That's one of my favourite U2 closers lol

starts off a little slow maybe but the last SHADOW SHADOW bit is dope

I just love the overall sound and energy of that album. The key strokes on I Will Follow are like little diamonds falling

probably, tho I have a soft spot for atom bomb from all the times i jammed it nonstop in elementary school i guess. never really got why its always been considered to be a peg below their other 2000s work by some people, as it easily holds the two best songs from that era (miracle drug and city of blinding lights), and tho it does have its weaker songs, theyre not quite as boring as ATYCLB or mind bogglingly stupid as no line

this is enjoyable for what it is. not great, not bad. its passable. some good hooks. far from their best but the bar was on the floor since i initially thought innocence was dogshit (its not as bad as i initially thought but still definitely my least favorite from them)

What the fuck is wrong with you drones? Does nobody else want to throttle Bono and call him a massive penis while jamming The Kinks?

Onionbubs: Regarding to your comment, I would like to point out the following:

1. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is an uneven-yet-listenable album. At least, half of it is worth to check out: Vertigo, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can`t Make It On Your Own, City of Blinding Lights, All Because of You and Original of The Species.

2. Songs of Experience does not simply work for me. I know that there is some people who absolutely love it or just hate it.

3. I Will Follow is a great U2 song. But, have you checked out Twilight or A Day Without Me?

The Ocean is also a must listen.

Yea see the songs i like off atom bomb are huge pieces of my life so i place it on a slightly higher pedestal than their other 2000s work. It’s still probably not objectively that good of an album, but eh

A day without me is cool. It’s all about the fucking electric co tho

another day and things to make and do are pretty good too iirc, tho I haven’t listened to either of them in at least 3 years

into the heart is cool but it does drag a little for me. it’s nitpicking tho boy is a solid as fuck album especially for a debut

Another Day slaps but it's got that very distinctive Cure worship production thing goin. suppose they could have re recorded it for Boy but I'm happier they packed it full of new tunes

I’d have been down with it making boy. things to make and do is a dope instrumental too in the vein of stuff like a day without me a little that would’ve made a nice addition too

used to only be able to listen to music via cds and cassettes and i distinctly remember back when i was getting heavy into these guys my dad found these old cassettes for boy, war, unforgettable fire rattle and hum and Joshua Tree and i already had old cds of all the others expect boy so i was listening to it on the shittiest sound quality for like a year lol

and i still fuckin loved it too then when i got a not garbage copy of the actual album i dug it even more

I go through swings where I think Boy is kind of overrated, but even then it's a fine album and An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart and The Electric Co. are still some of the band's best work ever

ashcrash9: Boy is not overrated. Au contraire, it is way UNDERRATED in U2`s discography. It is also one of the most underappreciated U2 albums. Some people seem to overlook Boy, in favor of more popular albums such as The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby!, Zooropa, POP or Alll That You Can`t Leave Behind. I gave it a chance and realized how wonderful it is. Obviously, we don`t have the same felling about it.

Boy is excellent and better than any of their 90s, 2000s, or 2010s albums imo, and this is coming from someone who likes or loves everything they've released.

@ivan

I dunno man, calling Boy underrated and Zooropa or Pop overrated seems pretty laughable to me. Both contemporaneously and in legacy, it gathered far more praise than those last two.

Keep in mind I'm not huge on post-punk in general or super knowledgeable about its breakout in the 80s, so that probably has something to do with my take
