I liked this more on the second listening. Nice thing, but still not as stunning as I hoped it would be. It undoubtedly has its moments, especially The Exorcist and large parts of Silent Flight, but there are too many instances where the music just drags on without delivering much. The closer is the best example of that, it repeats simple piano melodies to death and I get that it's meant to be moving and beautiful, but in the end it just sounds dull to me. Ah well, there are those moments that make me feel exactly what the album wants me to feel. They are just too rare in between the parts I only want to get through with.

I remember listening to this once and it didn't strike me as something great, felt it was too minimalistic. However, I had this on my playlist and I fell asleep, only to wake up to The Exorcist thinking this is really beautiful. At first I thought it was Anathema but then I realized it was Daniel and damn, his voice is fantastic. Definitely giving this another shot.

Also, it would be great if Daniel had a bigger part in Anathema's vocal department, he could easily front a few songs on his own or, even better, if he was occasionally complemented with Vincent and Lee. Such a multitalented band.

I’m not one to laugh at me own jokes but come on, that is a beauty.
