Someone has to be the party pooper!

I've never been big on doom though but even the deathy moments felt really weak

It's in the upper echelons of 2017 DM but isn't a patch on Starspawn tbh

I'd place them on par but I'm more of a sucker for this style, the vocalists higher vocals in tracks 2 and 5 are some of my fave metal moments this year

This whole thing is so memorable for me that it felt like I’d already been listening to it for years just on my first listen. And i don’t mean that in a way that it sounds like everyrhing else, because honestly I believe this sounds like nothing else. Like Blood Incantantation, they’re wholly unique without actually defying or going over any of the boundaries set by these genres. They use all the same tools as other bands in the style but they use them so differently

On first listen, this just sounds so much like straight Onward to Golgotha worship with longer songs that it's hard to really get into. Agree with the comments about those high screams though, damn they're good

I see the resemblance but this is still considerably differentiated from any other death doom outfit. They write their songs in a way no else does.

Most comparably I'd say it's like diSEMBOWELMENT just in terms of atmosphere and goals with the funeral doom aspects.

Possibly AotY for me, as was expected.

The riffs feel a bit like a slower version of Mortal Throne in places, but yeah atmospherically it feels totally different to Incantation to me

I still haven't received my pre-order of this in the mail yet, and the album officially released 2 days ago now... I thought pre-orders were supposed to come in before the album officially released? I did order 2 other pre-order represses off Dark Descent's webstore as well with my order, so hopefully one of them not arriving is holding it up, idk.

Dark Descent gets thousands of orders backed up. He's still shipping orders out each day. The process takes time.

Probably that, they'll often hold it up to minimize shipping costs in that scenario. They posted on fb saying they had a lot of pressings all at once so they'll take a little time to get all the orders out. They're pretty receptive via email so may be worth just sending a quick one
