this is not doing a whole lot for me on first listen. though it might be because I've been binging on all the music I missed and not really listening to much in depth.

Excellent review and got me to discover this album. Such a short but fun listen though Chapters 8-10 sound weaker than those before. Probably due to it being immediately after the beautifully depressing Chapter VII/Nocturne

Ch. II, III, IV, IX and X are great, but I find myself usually skipping the rest. IV especially slays hard, I love every second of it.

Finally got my bundle in today as well, hadn't listened to this in a while, so I spun it a couple of times. Still rules.

Really dug this at first, but I found its appeal wore off quick. It just made me realize how good A Lot Like Birds used to be.

I recently tried getting into ALLB again, to no avail. Guess I need the riffs in my music.

Hmm, never knew about this one.

Randomly checked out Chapter IX and it sounded pretty good.

"No Place and Conversation Piece rip tho"

I'll definitely give them another go somewhere down the road, though unfortunately I became awfully particular about clean vocals over the years. They're not bad, but I'm not fond of them either.

"dude is a riff machine on this"

Agreed, almost every song has some tasty riffs, though some of the tracks get boring fast. Nevertheless, Ch. II, III, and especially IV (its main tune is catchy as hell) are such absolute bangers all the way, it's almost ridiculous.

"you guys know it's hail the sun's guitarist that's the brainchild here ya?"

After looking them up, I remembered the cover art of HTS's Wake album, so I'm sure I've listened it before, if only briefly. Didn't pay attention to the connection though, so thanks for the heads up.

There's a lot of promise here but most of this is cringey as hell
