These guys saved all the best for last on this album. Last two songs are amazing.

Album is the equivalent of hitting the snooze button on my alarm. Just nothing really there besides a track or two that really pulls me in. It's not bad but man it does not feel engaging or alive at all. At times it honestly feels really phoned in

I find this to be much more attention grabbing than Language. I wanted to like their last one so much, but it was just so all over the map directionally. This is focused, it's honed in, there's a very good flow from track to track, the guitar work is stellar and not over the top "complicated for the sake of being complicated," and the vibes are just overall great. Godspeed hits with such good energy, and then the rest is just this wonderful build-up to the last couple tracks.

This album is the sound of The Contortionist finally being swallowed by the couch they've been sitting on.

I'm guessing listening to this wouldn't change my mind if I already though this band sucked?

probably make it a little worse. I enjoyed Exoplanet and Language a lot but Intrinsic was garbage and this isn't too good either.

Exoplanet is the only one I've heard and don't like it at all, guess I'll stay away from this one lol.

Well this is way different than Exoplanet. I mean it's a lot more boring.

I'd say at least try Language Hawks as it's pretty good but only tease with a few songs because if you get bored of the singles off it, not much else to enjoy.

"the fact that the shortest, most straightforward song on this album is my favorite kinda says a lot about it imo"

If you mean Reimagined, then I think that song is the best on this too

Language has most of their best songs and is the best Cynic worship I've heard so you should give it a chance Hawks you might dig.

I have actually been listening to the album, subtracting both Reimagined and Absolve, Reimagined doesnt really fit the rest of the albums mellow feel imo, and Absolve is just a forgettable b-side, gets in the way of those two awesome tracks The Center and Relapse

With those changes, the albums length is a nice 45 mins, really fits in line with Languages 48 min this way

I wonder if the product would be better without Lessard which really sucks because I dug him earlier as a vocalist.

Yeah I liked him on Language and the songs of LCTR that I could listen too, so it's weird how "in the way" he seems to be on this album.

Like he doesn't stand out at all, and if that was the point, then they should have just made the whole thing an instrumental, idk. The in-between seems to detract rather than compliment
