"more renown records."
- renowned?
"What is new, however, is how Dalek manages to maintain the melancholy off past albums while toning down the weirdness."
"Haven't heard asphalt so I can't give you my input there unfortunately."
- I feel like I've criticized you for this in other reviews. don't make statements like this if you can't back it up. I'd argue that Asphalt definitely has melancholic elements while being often less weird than some prior efforts - but, regardless of how i feel, the onus is on you. so, your opening statement here is baseless.
"this is notably less abstract than previous affairs, being notably"
- you use notably twice here
"Their aren't many songs that are distinguishable"
there
don't have time to get too in-depth at the mo, but will read again later if i have time.

Baseless is certainly a bit of a stretch there Johnny, so I will have to say I don't agree with you there. But as my own saying goes i am my own worst proofreader so thank you for the rest of the criticisms.

"Baseless is certainly a bit of a stretch there Johnny"
no it isn't. you're claiming that the record's overall sound is new, yet you admit to not hearing the most recent album in their back catalogue. what if this album is a near-carbon copy of that past album? you could easily avert this problem if you chose not to compare this album to the entirety of their discog. it just instantly kills your credibility, man.

I guess a more appropriate way of saying it would be "It's much less abstract than say, Absence/Filthy Tongues" (not exactly like that of course) although perhaps their would be no point in such a statement.
Eh fuck maybe you're right, think i'm just a bit flustered that 75 reviews in and I still repeat my own mistakes.
|

i mean, you could just compare it to one or two albums of theirs that you're more familiar with. just avoid making claims that involve familiarity with the entire discog unless you've heard them all. otherwise some lifeless nerd (me) will call you out on it.

It more like a 3.5/4 tbh. Its VERY chill for Dalek. First tracks like Old school dalek then its chill from there. Im fine with chill. Some of its dope af, some if its pretty bland but more of the former.
