Yeah because Up All Night sounds exactly like Thinking of a Place sounds exactly like Holding On sounds exactly like Knocked Down. I'll concede Nothing To Find does sound a bit too much like Holding On and the last three tracks feel a tad repetitive but this is clearly more than one song ten times. Sure they don't shake up the vibe too much but I think that's to the album's benefit in terms of atmosphere.

i found it very convincing of the merits of the album even though its not my jam. enough to say that i can respect it and even with my rating i dont have much to criticize other than that its simply not my thing.

hope that makes sense. i empathize with the nuanced condition Granduciel was in writing this record.

makes sense. more so than his other albums i think this really kind of paints itself in a very tight box, a specific heartland rock vibe that i find cheesy at times and for others simply isn't their bag but the craftsmanship is so impeccable i can overlook it

Arguably the album of this year, not quite as amazing as Lost in the Dream (for the the album of the decade) but it's not far either, the emotional peaks are there to listen as good as anything they have done, Thinking of a place, Holding on, Strangest thing and Pain...

Nothing to Find is sooooooooo Dire Straits, especially the fucking glorious cheesy synths in the outro couüpled with that crisp guitar lick.

This is like Dylan singing Springsteen songs over a modern dream-pop band
Also this is ridiculously fucking better the second time

This is still really great, and I'm happy that they won a grammy, but it's still a bit sad that they had to release their worst album since their debut to get a grammy.
