Its pretty funny. It would actually work really well if it werent for the contrived performance and ridiculous fake accent.

The dumb part in same logic is def kind of an attempt at a modest mouse kind of scenery chewing, but brand new works better when they play it totally straightfaced
Its not eye-roll inducing but its definitely a bit awkward

I don't agree with this particular observation, although this album does not have bad songs, it rather has good songs with bad moments. Only a few of songs are perfect, most of them have some heterogenous elements that distort the atmosphere/feel of the music.
It's a bit like I wrote in the other thread - this album feels like they took some b-sides from every other BN album, added some elements borrowed from bands they like or toured with (Modest Mouse) or thought would be cool to show that they can introduce (Asian moment while singing let's go out and play Nagasaki; southern moment in Desert; medieval ballad moment in Could never be heaven) and mix it up with that rock flavor of I am the nightmare.
And they kind of stretched it between psycho-horror and psycho-therapy. Either this or the other or at least make it like a road from being afraid of yourself to accepting yourself and your inner demons.

OK it's been a week now and I officially think this is tied with Daisy for my second favorite Brand New. It's far more consistent in terms of song quality, but it doesn't have anything as adrenaline-pumping as Vices or Sink, or as addictingly eerie as Noro. TDAG remains #1, this or daisy could be #2 depending on my mood (this for slightly more mellow and melodic/flowing, daisy for more of an emotional release).

There are times where I wish he'd let loose like that more on here but I have other BN for that and this fills another niche.
