"not enough 5s, honestly"
This is hella close to a five for me. About as close as a 4.5 can get tbh.

^ Same. Had it at a 5 for a while, but I came back to this and some songs just didn't hit me the same.
I did listen to it every day for like three weeks though.

Yeah I mean, this album has made me cry like a baby before, but I still cant bring myself to five it. Gonna be near the top of the ole year-end list nonetheless tho. Its certainly a masterpiece in its own right.

'That sounds awful JS. I'm really looking forward to seeing them tomorrow, hope it's not gonna be like that.'
Fingers crossed you get a better crowd man, the band themselves killed it so all chances are it'll be awesome!

i've seen them twice; the first time had a horrid crowd, the second was at a fest and it fucking ruled. guess it's the luck of the draw.

They absolutely slayed. The crowd was a non-factor, pretty average. Dave mentioned his left-wing opinions but fortunately didn't talk much more about them.

Yea fuck Western values what's that shit ever gotten anybody anyway?

I mean I'm a left-wing douche but bands that constantly talk about their politics can really ruin a great set (been there)
Glad it went great!

I wasn't that satisfied with the setlist though, they didn't play Say Yes to Life and Fear and Trembling. But yeah, still a damn good show.

How could they not play either? Jeez. Did they at least do "Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane"?

Yeah they played that on Sunday - but not the other two

I assume because 'technically' the record had only been out 3 days in the UK they thought people wouldn't know the new songs?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
True, but the setlist still mostly consisted from this one. Let Me Down Easy doesn't translate that well live for example, they could've easily left that out. Same goes for Keep Me in the Open.

how does Let Me Down Easy not translate live? that song is so upbeat and fun.

Let Me Down Easy was really lame live. It was all thin and wiry instead of upbeat and fun, and the singer was doing this 'ironic but not ironic because I secretly know how hot I am and there are lots of girls at this show' sexy dance thing and it was just a bit crap

Screaming at the top of their lungs throughout all of the songs to the point where it was kind of hard to make out a lot of it, pushing people out the way just so they could get right to the front even when the place was packed out, a LOT of people clearly had dropped and were completely unaware of other people (eg me losing my glasses to some guy wildly swinging around during 'Don't let your spirit wane' of all songs - somehow they survived a whole song of being on the floor thank god), people trying to be funny by screaming quips and things during songs, and loads of people aggressively pushing people out of the way of their girlfriends whenever they got close to anyone who wasn't them - despite it being a packed out show in a tiny room.
^ Dude, that's called a rock concert
