Not a fan of Achilles, Persevere is not great but not too bad. Otherwise an excellent album. I think I'm gonna skip Achilles while listening to this album from now on.

I didn't like Achilles at first, it's a grower

Achilles is a little bloated but still really good

Would've for sure been a highlight if it were like 2 minutes shorter

The band appeared this morning on "Like A Version", a hugely popular radio segment where bands cover other artists' songs. Check out their cover of The Middle East's "Blood", with a string quartet and extra piano, played by David Graham, the guy that "Persevere' was written about:

Whist in the studio they also played "The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows":

I do think Achilles Come Down justifies its length. I don't think it would've been possible to adequately represent the two conflicts and their resolution were it any shorter. Even I wonder sometimes if the song could've ended after the "I'm talking to you" bridge - the song itself comes to a pause after it - but I'm so glad we have that final verse. It seems to arrive at a sort of synthesis, and it's very cautiously hopeful.

Achilles is what solidified my appreciation of Dave's lyrics, but yeah I think my favorite now is Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane, very closely followed by Let Me Down Easy
