After listening to this EP a fucking ton of times and getting way more into the instrumental genre, I want to change my statement. This is the step they needed to take. Renaissance was good, and had some great tracks, but with that style they lose out to some of the bigger names like Intervals. They were stylistically really similar to the other bands with that release.

That's why I think this is such a strong EP. They've got their own sound, and if you read their interviews, I think you would get that this is the direction they always wanted to go. They like pop, rap and electronic. They fuse a lot of those elements together in this to be pretty unique, at least as far as I've heard. Every song on here is good too. They all have some good hooks and parts that make it a great EP to jam. The one criticism I have is that it sometimes feel like it's missing depth. It might be the songs are a bit repetitive or need a few more ideas going on, but yeah, I get that it's missing depth in the same way you can listen to radio pop and it doesn't have the sort of depth you'd get out of a Opeth song or something. If I'm being honest, Renaissance feels that way at times too, so maybe it's not a style problem but a problem they have with writing.

Either way, this EP is a great blueprint for a style they should most definitely champion going forward. Feel free to tell me if you think I'm wrong.

Sorry, but this EP is so fresh and creative and that's why the band members are being HATED on. Many comments here are from the type of people that are prog purists, elitists. Fusing skillful jazzy guitars and bass with hip hop beats? Blasphemy. Maybe it's because I'm 27 and born during the era of hip hop. Maybe I'm just not biased.

ramon.

maybe its that i just think people have done a better job of this sorta shit. go jam owane or jakub zytecki. they don't sacrifice intriguing and thoughtfully structured writing when they dabble in more contemporary sounds.

someone also please point to a time where a 5/10 was synonymous with hate.

everyone is biased. idk what planet you live on where you think one can be fully impartial in the realm of music.

Owane and Jakub Zytecki do not sound like Polyphia on this release at all.

Believe me, I'd love for your assertion to be true. As my rating implies, I love this EP and would be interested in listening to more stuff like it. Problem is I've yet to hear anything similar to what Polyphia have accomplished here.

I literally made an account just to comment on this ridiculous review and all the dumbshit comments. Wow you guys are fucking hilarious. And seriously dumb as shit if you're complaining about this EP...
Fucking seriously... Filler? Ramen noodles?
Where's your fucking new release every one is talking about? (Even though at this point it's not new). Jam this shit on a bad ass sound system and shut the fuck up.

And showing off? You people clearly don't understand the genre of instrumental guitar music. It's about breaking boundaries. Its about playing crazy ass technical shit, but making it sound good. Its about experimentation.

And Polyphia is infinitely better than Jakub Zytecki. Who most people haven't even heard of. If you think theres no creativity in this you are straight fucked in the head and I urge you to show me your own EP thats SO much more creative, you being experts and all.

I love how everyone on the internet is a fucking professional. Yet none of you have anything even remotely as talented professionally released.... Idiots.

Ah yes, the classic "where's yours" comment that literally means nothing. People can critique things without needing to make something of their own *gasps*

Not my alt but I agree besides the Zytecki slander, this is the golden age of this type of music imo and everything from the big names has ranged from decent to great, so yes I agree with this mysterious commenter, also romans review of this and who bit the moon hurts my soul, cheers bud
