You don't like Agalloch snox? Why is that?
|
| |
Too many reasons. But primarily they're boring.

Astral I get it, you're a black metal fan, Agalloch are too folksy for you. But still... You gotta go on a hike through some snowy woods while listening some time.
Mistacrave, lmao thank you! There's a lot of them. If you can spot all the puns/references you get 50 internets.
You're welcome Aiwaz, this needed a review and I believe it was you who told me to write one. Album is so addictive.

Uh one of my favourite genres is folk music.
I even make a lot of neofolk music.
Agalloch are boring.

This is the review this phenomenal album deserved.

Good review. It can't be physically possible to fit more Agalloch references in than this without it sounding silly, nice work. Not sure I understand the blowing tits off refs though so that bit came across as juvenile to me.
I'm very interested in this album, might actually get around to it one day.

Lofty praise with that 5, but yeah this slays more than I was expecting it to thats for sure.

@RustCohle
Agalloch and Pillorian mean a lot to me so if you feel I did them justice then that's the best compliment, thank you
@Sunlight
it's just an expression, like being blown away. I suppose I have a somewhat juvenile sense of humour sometimes.
@Evokaphile
the album just has no flaws in my opinion. I wish it was longer and had more clean singing, but those are just preferences. the album feels like a cold sleek obsidian shard, flawless for what it is.

No worries artiswar, you asked for critique & the only part of the review I didn't like was that expression I guess. Apart from that it's well written & conveys your opinion well.

I still have to listen to this - although it won't be in some remote cabin, deep in the ferns and trees. Probably in my car. Excellent review and thanks.

"Continues the downward spiral since Serpent and Sphere."
I agree with you on a lot of things zaryu and I love you but sometimes your onions are just foul and ridden with mold.

Thanks teamster. I hope you enjoy it, it's darker than your typical Agalloch, maybe not a car-ride type of album unless you're driving through a torrential rainstorm with Zeus hurling lightning bolts at you

this is metal, only Norse references are allowed!

This really needed a review, so thanks for contributing, and also great work even if the blatant overabundance of Agalloch puns made me shake my head every other line ;) This is a pretty good album. I enjoy it more than Serpent, but less than Marrow. There are certainly flourishes of Agalloch throughout, but overall it's a darker, arguably more metal, album than previous work.
