Jim is actually one of the few vocalists that doesn't sound like he's going through the motions or solely relying on his voice, but actively tries to make the songs sound better.

Yeah, his singing on Dragonfly is ridiculously good. Jeff Buckley is one of my favourite singers so that bit in Dragonfly always gets me

I can forget how good he is... he's not showing it off all the time. He always sounds good, but it's impressive when he lets loose.

I normally agree but for me every song was outstanding on this. The others are all 4's though

I get a Karnivool vibe from them, but I think they do it better

A bit like Opeth in a contemporary Progmetal style
With more influences of course
|
| |
Turntail is one of the best songs I've heard in a while, this is hitting good rn.

Nice
This is more the proggy rock/metal I like. Tastefully and technically done without sounding wanky

absurdly out of pocket band name

The worst part of this whole album is the 4 on the floor twangly intro to Firelight.
The rest of the song is quite nice and I've grown to enjoy it for what it is going into it but holy shit I still remember it almost being a rip my headphones off moment the first time I listened to it.
Otherwise solid by the #s CHorse for the most part. Bloom/Marigold bang, Dragonfly is really good. Daughter/Undergrowth are gorgeous. I probably should 4 this and it may only be the DISGUSTING Firelight intro holding me back. That harmony is pretty tho just something about it suddenly feeling like I'm listening to a fkn Keith Urban song right after the singing stops is jarring as hell.
