Haha crazy how much people change live over the years. I saw Vince and earl early in their careers when they were hungry. Both were incredible, especially Vince. Saw Vince open for all of TDE and he was better than all combined. Isaiah Rashad was also insane. Most hip hop has been shit live otherwise. Barely any actual rapping and mostly the lazy fucks relying on back track

@Pheromone damn man I saw IR around when the s/t dropped and thought they were amazing (particularly Parker). Even wore my shirt from that show today coincidentally.

i like it when they're super energetic and instead of really rapping they just kind of yell along to the backing track, like they're trying to be their own hype man

Pretty much Joey Badass when I saw him haha.
Fuck I miss going to shows man

"wow how can someone say about this record what rowan said? that's mind boggling"
vince staples in 2014: "As a kid all I wanted was to kill a man
Be like my daddy's friends, hopping out that minivan
Chrome '38s spinning like a ceiling fan
Crying on my momma's phone swearing he a different man
Talking to me monotone, hardly ever coming home
Knew he was the villain never been a fan of Superman
Beaten on my momma in the kitchen screaming:
"Bitch you better listen when I speak my mind!"
vince staples in 2017: "I'm in that 745
Hope I can come scoop you up 'round 7:45
Slide 'round with my drop top up or down, you down to ride?
Looked into my eyes and told me "Daddy sure you right"
745

Fucking True. I remember the first time I saw Wu Tang live on tv, all of my excitement evaporated away... live hip hop shows seem kind of lame.
Except I saw JPEG Mafia open for Glassjaw once, that was actually pretty badass

"y'all judge for yourselves tho lol"
vince staples in 2017: Yeah I been fucked since my early days
I been stuck in my worldly ways
Propaganda, press pan the camera
Please don't look at me in my face
Everybody might see my pain
Off the rail, might off myself
Bored with life as I board this plane
Stewardess asked if I need help
Maybe baby, what's your last name?
Hopefully it still ain't been changed
Somethin' 'bout ya make me not doubt ya
Awkward silence my brain scream louder
Askin' when I'm gon' blast myself
Couple problems my cash can't help
Human issues, too strong for tissues
F*ck bravado, won't mask my wealth

I've only seen 6 or so rappers live, so my experience is limited, but Vince has been the only disappointing one so far.

Let rowan have his irredeemable music taste, it's a crucial part of his personality

lol it really is
also yea that verse on Party People is great. also the only really top-tier verse on this album, tho. and he hasn't released anything remotely good since this album so I'm kinda just accepting that he's past his peak
I mean jesus the last few singles have been atrocious

I'm a bit of a Vince stan, so I like FM! and his recent stuff more than most. As far as his personality goes, I think he's a goofball - sometimes that's endearing, other times it's annoying. I will say I loved his tribute to SOPHIE.
I know he's received shit before for poor live performances, and he's responded to it on twitter. I agree that live hip-hop is tough to do well. When I saw Kendrick on the DAMN tour he was incredible, though, so I'm grateful for that.

Feel like he wants to be Vince Staples the personality more than Vince Staples the rapper these days. He's released like 30 minutes worth of half-assed material in the nearly four years since BFT dropped, but there's been absolutely no shortage of Vince interviews, videos of him hanging out with people, etc. His last three singles were all advertisements for his show.

Twas Very Lit. It was from that dual Glassjaw/Quicksand tour. One of Jeremy Bolm’s side projects was an opener too
