Amen, man, amen!
You nailed this one. Godspeed is my favorite band, and I think you just explained why. Not all people get that from them, but we're definately on the same wavelength here.

Did you purposely review this on 6/6/06 being this album is based around the apocalypse?
Anyways, this album is so cool- it's terrifying, it's beautiful, it's quiet, it's loud. Highlights for me are the buildup in "East Hastings" and the 7/8 time in "Providence".

Nah there are more fast parts. There's the part in the Sad Mafioso, Dead Methany goes pretty fast and Kicking Horse on Broken Hill is pretty fast too. Those and the entire secret track at the end, which isn't actually During Downpour I guess; it's named after some guy.
But yeah, not the best album by them, but it's certainly my favorite. The mood they create is incredible.
Nice review as well. This Message Edited On 06.06.06

I believe you meant to say "Amazing review, Eliminator. I bow to you". People make mistakes, though.

Whoa buddy, pat yourself a little harder and you'll break your back.
Amazing review though. I bow to you.

Now that's more like it.
This is now the official "Eliminator Jr. Is Better Than Everyone" thread. Keep posting.

I downloaded the song Antennas to the Sky, didn't like it at first, but it really picked up as the song progressed, it reminded me a little of the Agalloch song Hawthorne Passage
if I liked the song Antennas to the Sky would I like this album?
|
| |
Yeah, you more than likely would.

East Hastings is incredible. I have only heard Sleep off Lift Your Skinny Fists... and I liked that, so I might get that album as well.

Great album, not as good as Skinny Fists, but still trance inducing.

I haven't gotten tired of this album. Then again, it's hard not to get tired of an album with only three songs.
Like the avatar there.

666 Lawlorz dude...
On another note this review is fantastic.
This kind of music is poignant - to the extent that lyrics/vocals would probably ruin this emotion. The Dead Flag Blues is the definition of post-apocalyptic sorrow music...amazing album.

This album makes me feel small and insignificant, but at the same time it's the most beautiful thing I've ever listened to. Hands down.

If you have "East Hastings" turned up, you can hear people singing one of the guitar melodies aruond 8 or 9 minutes in.[/quote]
Probably Efrim, just because he's so awesome.
