yeah that would indeed explain the ratings. I don't think no friend is a unique song whatsoever though, i've heard similar songs on plenty of emo/post-hardcore releases, unless u mean that the songs are unique in the context of the album of course, which i would completely agree with.

contextually yes that's what I mean. what's impressive about No Friend imo is that it does draw heavily from those genres but still meshes really well with the rest of the album. it obv sticks out but not nearly as much as you would think if someone initially told me they had a La Dispute Rooms of the House-esque spoken word track on here haha.
