I'm pretty sure Brent is stoned 100% of the time. just keep pickin' man, just keep pickin' and nobody cares how dumb you sound in interviews. though I wager he's actually a pretty funny guy sometimes.

"it grows on me with every listen"

that's the case with every mastodon album, they require some dedication in order to sink in

he's dead serious when it comes to music though, and that's all that matters

RYM isn't being as kind to this, somehow rated even lower than the last two despite this seeming like a step up

They're doing the exact same thing with the new Depeche Mode album and it is mind boggling.

our weirdos are better than their weirdos

ours make endless supplies of cringey, rushed electronic-core and put their fingers in their ears when everybody else tries to understand why it's just as scattershot as the last one and nobody can tell if it's the most elaborate troll ever or just dumbfounding naivety

theirs write 10/100 rants about how Saor sucks because it's too "pretty"

RYM is one big circlejerk of elitist wankery, Metal Archives is just weird and embarrassing

the people here are cool

I think RYM tends to be kitschy in that they're very much like Pitchfork where they're very anti establishment, contrarian and do not like to hype up or highly rate established acts (outside of a select few bands/artists) and tend to think they're "cool" for liking something new/unheard of before the others do, essentially being the cool kids who liked it before it was cool.

Yes, god forbid you enjoy something that your sister, parents, or even the popular kids at school know and enjoy.
