People love them but unless you like delayed gratification to a ridiculous degree you're probably better off going for a band who doesn't bury 5 good songs among 45 shit ones

I am going to dip in and out of it just to see what it's like.

I did that with 69 love songs and ended up dishing out a 2.5 - for every one song I liked there were four that stunk the place out.

I think both the singles taken from this so far are craptastic.

I don't think this is bad at all tho :/

"I can skip ever listening to any future concept albums about Merritt's song interpretations of the first 1000 episodes of the Simpsons without a second thought."

Lol.

'my little words' sounds like a decent Jens Lekman song, it's pretty good, not mind blowing though, a 3.5-4 max

A lot of their songs sound like early Jens Lekman without the more interesting vocal tics and inventive bits to me but meh, this lot wouldn't have been my boys if they released 12 song 4 minute albums but releasing never ending 2 and a half hour slogs in this style is just taking the piss.

I've just finished and the tears are pouring down my face. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Masterpiece.

I'll listen to most of the album when it goes up on Spotify but honestly expecting it to land in the 1-2.5 bracket based on 69 Songs and the style of the two singles

This does bounce genres a bit, Discs 4 and 5 are more traditional sounding MF but Disc 1 for instance has influences of 60s psych pop.
