I missed a DEP show a few weeks ago.. Still kicking my own ass because of it.... They won't come to denmark again for a long time I'm guessing..
I heard they still play songs from the EP live? Is that true?.. I'd love to hear if their new singer can keep up with patton.
"When Good Dogs Do Bad Things" is on the bonus DVD, and Greg's singing. They do an awesome job... Greg has a bit of trouble getting that really, really low part in the second half, but he does a great job on most of the screaming.
BTBAM is metalcore. Stop listening to their new album and listen to their old stuff, they are metalcore. Grindcore "frontrunners" are like Daughters, Ed Gein, and The Locust.
AND IF YOU THINK CONVERGE, BTBAM, AND THE LOCUST ARE THE CLOSEST TO DILLINGER. YOU DO NOT KNOW TECH. EVER HEARD OF ION DISONNACE? TOTALLY BLOWS DILLINGER OUT OF THE WATER IN THE TECH DEPARTMENT. Or Into The Moat, Psyopus, and Gorguts.
Converge and BTBAM are not grindcore at all. Man, your genre's are so fucked up[I know it sounds lame but they are] they are man.
You are an idiot. Learn to seperate grindcore from metalcore and you'll have a case. Those bands I mentioned are the closest to Dillinger you can get. Let's look at a statement you made: "Ever heard of Ion Dissonance? Totally blows Dillinger out of the water in the tech department."
Let's refresh. I said those bands are the closest to Dillinger's sound. You give a band that is more technical and most likely sounds nothing like them. Think. Think long and hard.

BTBAM has grind, melodic death, pop, and prog in their music. Just so you know Psyopus is the only bad you listened that's actually on a par, style-wise with DEP. Ion Dissonance is just really technical metal. They don't have the same stop-start dynamics and hardcore elements of Dillinger Escape Plan and they also don't have any jazz in their music. Honestly I would consider all three bands that Subtle Dagger listed closer to DEP stylistically because all flair in poppier sounds while Ion Dissonance never takes a break.

Hahaha, you put Gorguts with Into the Moat and Psyopus.
|
| |
I was going to say, Gorguts are death metal..
|
| |
Yeah, BTBAM definitely has heavy grind influence. The whole heavy part in the first 2-3 minutes in "Mordecai" is really spaztic and grind-ish.

If converge isn't grindcore, what is it. Pop? R&B?
|
| |
Converge is like metalcore, hardcore and grindcore mixed into one big ol' mess. I think if your gonna single out a genre, pick metalcore.
|
| |
I worry about anyone that puts Converge in any genre besides grindcore. They are grindcore. They pretty much personify the friggin' genre. They may do some techinical stuff every now and then (like Dillinger), but they're not even close to a "technical" band.
Oops... Didn't mean to do that. I was just kinda listing what I had off my playlist at the moment cause I was in a tech mood at the time so yeahhh...But I mix my tech with death stuff...Cause grind/death stuff like TERMINALLY YOUR ABORTED GHOST [!!!] is awesome.
SEE! That was a nice asshole free response from xdeadtomorrowx! Now if we just see more of that, you would rock hard.

Good review, that CD cover is weird

After many more listens and numerous tracks becoming favorites, I've decided this is a defnite five. I also edited in favorite tracks, though this should really be a purchased record for anyone who can appreciate the genre, and even some who can't.
Also, DFelon needs to write his friggin' review.

Chill out. I'm still busy with swimming and going to BBQs and beach parties. It is the summer isn't it? Also, my review is going to be more thorough than yours so it'll be worth the wait. My CTTS one isn't even done and it already spans two posts. I have 17 minutes left to review, too. It takes me a long time man!
You haven't heard it yet because it was released today. :smoke:
*ahem* no.
Relapse Records released a special promo cd of the new album with "Panasonic Youth" and "Baby's First Coffin" on it.
It also had "Blood & Thunder" by Mastodon and "Dead Martyr" by The End.
I should know, I was given 35 of the cd's to give out at a gig.
And I did it at Million Dead where there also happened to be another person doing the same thing as me, however, I gave one of my cd's to Julia, Million Dead's bassist, therefore making me tres cooler.

*ahem* No.
That was a special promo CD with two tracks. I reviewed the entire album, which is what "it" was in my post.
Seriously, what were you thinking with that post?
