"Dude you could make a novella of stuff you've said that people quote"
Not sure whether I'm proud of that or mortified yet. Congrats on achieving Contributor btw!

I applied this year, but didn't get it.
It's also the first time I've ever applied for contrib, and even though I've had nearly a year of good behavior, I still have to prove that I've changed for longer due to my less than stellar rep in the past on the site.

Your list made me check this, and I'm glad I did. I got lost in this for a clean hour, and it was an hour well spent.
Solid review, I like the style of it haha

Unintentional puns are best puns

I'd apply for contrib or some shit but I don't write nearly enough as I could. I could definitely see you getting it eventually, you're an underrated writer.

The only review I didn't think was good from you was the Black Veil Brides one, other than that you're a great writer

@Mars: Thank you! Hopefully my craft will be even more improved by the time the next applications roll around.
@Con: Hey no worries man it's all good, thank you for reading!
@Steak: You talking about just the WSTW review, or the STWOF review (it's no longer up) as well?

this is a good review. and it's flawed in a necessary way. i think it's important for writers to step out of the box and write a perceivably lol-worthy review once in a while (fwiw i liked it) - what better way to test your strengths and weaknesses.
i think this sort of prose questions what a review should be, and i like that. i got the gist of what you wanted to convey re: the album, and tbh if i wasn't familiar with 2814 i'd be interested to check it on the basis of your writing, which is more or less the point anyway.

@Johnny: Thanks man! Honestly I love finding new types of reviews to write, depending on which releases fit certain styles. So even if it's flawed, it still helps me branch out and vary as a writer.

I gotta add to what Mort and Johnny said. I appreciate what you tried to convey with your review, to create that sort of imagery for the album and present it as a story in that universe. It has some nice descriptions here and there but the overall structure it's sort of inconsistent and messy. I pos'd it anyway, because of the effort.
I am gonna jam this tonight as i walk Osaka's downtown ;)

can't fault the intent of the review. hell i tried one similar this once but stuff like this makes me question the intent of the reviewer, are you trying to brag about your l33t prose? Or explain how an album sounds/why people should listen to it. But then again different strokes, I'm wholly unmoved about how an album makes someone feel because I'm a different person. The heavy-handedness of a lot of this one though like the inhaling death part just kind of makes my eyes roll. Regardless I like that someone without the contributor tag would try a review like this. the fear of being down-voted scares people I think.

Yeah man, I lived in Japan for 8 years, half and half between Tokyo and Osaka.
I made a quick rough translation of the titles, in case anyone wants them:
1. Recovery
2. Distant Worshipper
3. Shinjuku Golden District
4. Floating
5. Sorrow
6. True Love
7. Telepathy
9. New beginning

pretty bad review tbh
|
| |
like the concept is kinda nice but you've fucked it up something fierce idek where to start with "proper" criticism
tbh
|
| |
well yeah it's kinda beyond bothering with proper criticism so it kinda just ... exists as something. i don't think it's bad but i'm not really judging it as a review (even though i called it a review so i guess i could've used a different word in that last post)
