Lowkey, I think this might have been planned. Here's a small theory my friend came up with.
Suicide Silence is signed to Nuclear Blast, they're not exactly the biggest label in the world in the metal community. Perhaps Suicide Silence purposely made a bad album to tank their own sales and their own rep (notice how everything was carefully reported, even from personal facebook posts from the band), so that Nuclear Blast would drop them and thus they would no longer be liable to be under contract. Going independent could technically be a good thing for this band (it worked for A Day To Remember), perhaps they're trying to take a similar approach, and their new album is going to be a return to roots kinda thing.

"I don't think they're smart enough."
From talks I've seen with Eddie, he's a relatively well spoken man who seems intelligent.

I write soundoffs for like every rating u bstrd :p That way I can low-key remember everything and still be able to complain about stuff without having to actually relisten heyooo.
also snide this album hit #163 on the US charts which is still probably better than a lot of other bands on that label. And, as we know from how NB dealt with Wintersun, they can be awful patient when it comes to upholding contracts and making sure they get their money.

Rise, Epitaph, Sumerian, and Fearless are all bigger than Nuclear. Nuclear has been losing a lot of cred lately because they're absolutely terrible at advertising their bands.

oh you meant the metalcore world, not the metal world, gotcha

Honestly unless I checked I wouldn't be able to tell which label has which band nowadays with all the hopping about.

Realistically other than the last few massive names in Metal; Metalcore as a whole is a bigger genre than plain ol' metal bands at the moment.
