As for the overrating part maybe, but i'm honest in my enjoyment, and I do stand by what I say about the album.

-It's not tech death
It's relatively techy, not too heavily but I think it shows through at points. I guess it's more of a straight death metal/maybe brutal death album?

Oh yeah I was more trying to convince Evok to hear it, it's definitely "technical" playing wise, but it's not exactly "tech death" and not what comes to mind from that label. I was turned off when I read that in the rev and expected to dislike it but was pleasantly surprised when I gave it a listen.

i would definitely say this is tech death

Glad you liked it man! I get slightly turned off by the idea of tech death because some of it can basically become emotionless stagnation, although there are always exceptions, e.g stuff like Psycroptic.

"Last I checked dxc and slam were derivatives of metal not drill or cloud rap or harsh noise or PE or industrial. You're an unequivocal metalhead and you know it man I just wanna hear you say it"
tbh slam is as indebted to hip-hop as it is metal, and dxc is more akin to some sanitised bastardisation of scene/pop punk. there are certainly some factors reminiscent of metal, but given the metal community's vocal attempts to separate themselves from both slam and dxc, it'd be perhaps a bit disingenuous to lump them together.
at the very least, you'd struggle to argue that the thematics and imagery have much to owe to metal.

I respect your opinion man, but in what way is slam at all derivative of hip-hop? I mean you can school me here because I know little about slam death but man I can't even imagine the similarities. As for the deathcore statement it's literally just a heavier hardcore, so whether or not metal fans hate it it has some ties to metal. Extreme metal has a lot to owe to old hardcore anyway, and modern hardcore owes even more.

You're argument seems pretty specious tbh, in many ways slam seems to be the epitome of metal with all the cliches and tropes (aesthetic , gruesome titles/lyrics, inhuman vocals) magnified to the nth degree, whether for comic effect or not.
I definitely don't see the nexus between slam and hip hop (the mid tempo 'beats'? idk) and admittedly dxc is pretty amorphous when you've got wiggertastic emmure and thy art is murder which are only a few breakdowns away from being straight up death metal. I mean the cleansing is one of your favorite albums in the genre and that's much more akin to death metal than anything else.
I know you don't relly wanna assosciate yourself with metalheads ( i dont irl either really) but just admit you enjoy metal or at least some offshoots of it lol

Slam is short for slamming death metal right? And dxc is deathmetal + hardcore. Not much more to it than that.

Nice. Just found out that this band is made up of former members of The Yellow Sign, who were one of the most underrated deathcore bands in the genre.
