My opinion of this really went up on repeated listens.

Usually how it goes. I find with my middle-of-the-road rating that happens more often. But uhh, sometimes, like with Dream Theater's most recent output for example, you really don't need repeated listens to know the quality of something lolol

A lot of times my initial reaction to an album is usually how I feel about it in the long run. Not always the case though of course.

This is what Opeth should have been, at least for their last 2 albums.

Really reminiscent of Tool and post Still Life Opeth. Some time too much. I don't really hear Katatonia in here. I'm guessing you are talking about alt rock Katatonia. Overall pretty good.

the whole disc reeks of 10s katatonia boys.
Not that it's bad, but

I haven't listened to 10s Katatonia in a while so that could explain things. I don't recall them sounding like Opeth though. Maybe Tool-ish.
