sad that they broke up, but they wanted to go heavier and none of the crowd knew anything about their past so it just made everything awkward. Them going back to a more punk-oriented sound would just be super awkward as LtA

I didn't know that they wanted to go back to being heavier haha. Hopefully they're able to do more punk sounding stuff under a different band name or something. Didn't Mike write a song for 5 Seconds of Summer or something as well?

I remember they did a cover of Never Meant by American Football, but they tried to turn it into a Hardcore song and it didn't work too well.

Sad that they sold out so hard in the first place because this lp is just pointless

Guess they really are Lower Than Atlantis now, aye?

jokes aside, I thought some of their songs where pretty good, but they could only go so far with their sound, their music is basically mc Donalds, get a quick meal and you're outta there

I mean it's possible to go heavier without breaking up or going to a new project. Gary Numan did it. But if they think starting again is the best option then go for it. That said, their drummer is currently in Busted.

Yeah, and Funeral for a Friend went back towards their Post Hardcore roots after they did a couple of albums that were more Alternative Rock based (although I don't think they were as successful as LTA were since a lot of fans didn't like those albums too much, and even FFAF admitted that they don't really consider Tales a FFAF album and that M&H was mediocre at best). It'd be interesting to see what they do next, both Far Q and World Record are great albums, and even Changing Tune had a couple of great songs on it.

The singer made a new project called HEADACHE and... it BLOWZZ!!!, pop shit, super bummed, man. This album is feels like a godsend compared to that.

just looked em up and found that broke song. imagine being so broke and in debt you lose the will to live, then channel it into that. like i get it was probably good for him, but i feel like that sort of emotion coulda been channeled into something actually interesting???

Had the itch for Far Q a couple weeks ago and since Spotify is dumb like that it shoved LTAs top songs into every personalized playlist. Gotta say - I was bummed about this when it was released, but now I actually really like it. Boomerang is still such an obvious label/radio exec pleaser, but not even that one sours it for me anymore and I remember HATING that song.

Read up on Mikes last interview again and basically he was saying he lost all passion for / got depressed over LTA because it became about anything but the music. Typical label taking too much interest in a band that surprisingly became super successful story. The fact that Mike's new solo stuff isn't on a label gives reason for hope cause it means he/LTA are unsigned and can do whatever they want in the future. I hope they come back.

I went to their final gig in Birmingham and the lead singer couldn't sing, so they got the singer from the support act to do it... He stood on the stage reading lyrics off his phone, because he didn't know the words. Couldn't even make this stuff up.

But I digress, Dumb and I Would are fun. But there's way too many awkward moments in this album that drag it down for me. It'd probably be a 2.5 if it wasn't for them verses in Had Enough or basically the entirety of Boomerang. It's good for a laugh.

It was a good atmosphere though! Just hilarious seeing some other bloke reading off his phone while the other members were basically singing everything anyways haha.
