feedback:
- although your topic sentence//thesis is more complete and workable than your starsailor thesis, there's the issue of you again straying from it and wandering into otherwise uncharted territory, and thus ending the review on a bit of a sour note
- probably more problematic though is the way you start this as somewhat of a thinkpiece (throwing out rhetorical questions and whatnot -- really firing up those neurons) and don't fully answer the questions you pose. and while that is a quite understandable concession when taking into account brevity and readability, it does beg the question of whether or not you needed to ask those questions in the first place...
- again, you do a good job with the descriptions, but in this instance i'd say you err on the side of being too self-referential in regards to comparing it to sylvian's other work rather than relying on a palette perhaps more accessible to those not so "in the know" when it comes to his work
- not a huge fan of the "when's his next fire album gonna drop?" vibe i get at the end, but i think that's more a matter of taste sooo...

Idk dude until you actually give a convincing argument towards Sylvian's big descent into "ishtar" types of self indulgent nonsense, I don't think anybody would care what you have to say. Just saying that it's not good kills the discussion. Beehive is a classic but come on man, it would be boring if he stuck with that sound.

well...maybe you could tell us why you think its so great?
the vocals and general mood of manafon is just so dire. the musical performances are so amateurish and disjointed that it's unlistenable. as far as freeform goes, its awful. this single is okay, but by sylvian standards it's like I said, average at best. The vocal is so thin and frail. I'm surprised anyone bothered to review it at all.
if he wants to do freeform stuff he should start hanging with a better crowd. jan bang is cool. maybe folks like tigran or arto lindsay for instance. hidden orchestra or four tet would be good, ben monder or burial could be cool. Dai fuk and keith rowe not so good.
yes I long for the days of steve nye. david needs a good producer that feels free to tell him when his shit stinks. he hasn't had that for a long time. probably why steve jansen isnt around anymore.
