I am so fucking hyped man, I don't know why I like these guys so much right now. New track sounds like Mechina 100% and that's absolutely fine by me.

Gonna spend Christmas shooting aliens on Destiny while blasting this.

new track is run-of-the-mill Mechina. That's not terrible i guess. I'm still excited for the new project.

I actually like when bands release on bandcamp first because it gives you an incentive to buy the album

Just finished the album, I think the place where the new album fits into the timeline is before Progenitor cause they mention Planetfall on the last track

Only heard once so far but will definitely need some more digesting before any sort of thoughts on it

Best Mechina album so far, not a single weak track, while some of them are simply of outwordly quality. Aetherion Rain / The Synesthesia Signal is one of the most beautiful things I've encountered in music.

I have a question, do you prefer the Compendium version or the original mix?

Compendium is a complete and utter disaster, I mean, all we needed is a simple remastering of the old albums, Embers and Progenitor didn't even require that, and everyone would have been 100% happy. So Joe did what instead? He added a thick spread of new orchestrations above all the old songs, thus burying all the familiar melodies we love and killing the dynamics completely. I'm not sure I've ever seen a reissue worse than what he did there. What happens then? When people came to the band's FB and explained that in the most polite and thorough way, he simply deleted all those comments along with the original posts they related to. Also there was supposed to be a massive booklet with artworks, lyrics, notes and whatnot. Never happened as well, he only uploaded those later as pictures for public dl. I can rant over this Compendium wreck forever so enough of it. Most pointlessly spent 100 bucks in my entire media library I guess.

On a side note, for those who enjoy Mechina I suggest you check the debut LP of Andromida which reminded me of these guys a lot. A slightly different approach to the same cosmic djent idea. Disregard everything they recorded afterwards though. And if you like that one, do yourself a favor and check the latest LP by Kafziel, Elements.

THICC paragraph lol, definitely see where you're coming from, but I would argue that if you listen to all of the albums back to back (Conquerer -> Empyrean and so on), it ends up feeling more cohesive than the originals, but that being said, the mix just ain't up to scratch as you said, and most of the issues come from the orchestral portion of the mix for sure. But this being said, I think the reason why Joe deleted all those comments backlashing it was because it was probably a big passion project for him, and he probably put a lot of work into it (imagine remixing 6 albums and are all over an hour in length, quite the insane task). It's just a shame it didn't turn out the way he had hoped, it was a good idea, executed poorly, unfortunately

Also, I find it rather surprising that you find this album to be their best when the original mix is probably the most similar to that of the Compendium mixing (Orchestra way in the forefront, guitars really toned down, etc)

please keep ranting cause i'm still really flabbergasted at how unevenly the Compendium turned out.

Well I understand why he did what he did but there were no insults at all, at least two posts were extremely detailed and came from sound engineers' point of view explaining why the result was poor.

Maybe there indeed is a cohesive flow you mention but a) it's not the music I used to like on the originals b) the constant swells simply give me headache quite quickly.

Joe progressively increased orchestrations spot in the mix but on Embers everything was still completely fine balance-wise IMO. Well, I even think the new album is not so bad speaking of production because it's designed with these constant symphonics from the start. Although the single version of Realm Breaker sounds significantly better to me, it has more space for everything, the vocals are not buried, there's room between instruments etc. Still I can listen to Telesterion while on Compendium the problem was the old albums already having their own flow of melodies which got completely covered with this new sympho shroud. Not gonna do.

Unfortunate turn of events, Joe has basically backed himself into a corner on his own accord, the big backlash from fans about the Compendium, and then releasing Telesterion with the same mix that everyone was complaining about is not a good solution at all, pretty much only adding the fuel to the fire of negativity, Joe basically has to climb himself out of this hole he has thrown himself in (probably his biggest misstep in the Mechina run so far?), messy situation, time will only tell what Joe will do going forward

He doesn't seem to be concerned much with the feedback since he continues with the same MO. Although it's peculiar the single version of Realm Breaker sounded like the normal Mechina but then he covers it all with synths on the album again. Anyway, this Compendium thing took quite a lot of his time and energy so let's see how the next 'regularly done' album will sound like.
