Vocal layering isn't done all too well, as usual. Some of the production's a bit muddy too, the strings sound a bit odd. But it's so, so charming.

On the other hand, (since the article states that Sprained Ankle will be reissued) this means that Funeral Pyre probably isn't an album song, so there might not even be a new album this year. Or perhaps Matador'll pull a Car Seat Headrest, release a bunch of previous material, and then release an album of new material not too long after.

Yeah, it seems so. I'm sure she has the material for a second album, there are at least half a dozen live tracks floating around, but signing to Matador and the reissuing of Sprained Ankle (with Funeral Pyre being a bonus track on that), as well as the touring aspect, has me sceptical about whether or not she'll be recording new songs anytime soon.
