Pretentious is a stupid thing to throw around because it's impossible to prove

"it amazes me how many people on sput don't know what the definition of pretentious is"

reads to me as "I don't think it is, therefore others can't think this"

you're also very defensive in this thread for some reason

I don't like their music much and an autobiography came off as very pretentious to me when they released a "dramatis personae" to accompany their album. I thought they were better on their EPs but after that I lost interest

I like this less every time I listen to this

I think I just more than anything wanted to believe that there could be a great screamo album in 2016

the Hotelier have kind of moved in a more indie rock direction in my opinion, though I'd still bundle them into the emo camp as there are enough emo sensibilities in their work to justify it

Gotta rep my local scene and rec Black Nail. Little band from my area, while not anything really new or particularly great, it's p decent emoviolence that recalls back to the heyday of the genre. Also, there's new Viva Belgrado that everyone kinda forgot about, which is also Spanish screamo, like calmrose's rec. What're the odds, eh?
