Mastodon has THREE vocalists tho. Count them! Guessing this is kinda sludgy-ish (and clean vox might be similar?), which might bring in some slight comparison, especially if you really really hate (for some reason) Mastodon and anything barely resembling them (ie. any and all sludge).

Each time I listen to this album, I think it's actually alright.
...but then I jam some "Aura" again and I start thinking this one is incredibly disappointing in comparison.

i like both but for different reasons - the frantic nature of aura is great but there's so much raw energy to this and it's really intoxicating

true. while i haven't made the jump yet, this has grown on me a little over time. the fact it still gets spins despite my 3 rating is surprising enough for me. just wish it were a more consistent venture.
