I guess that problem just comes with the way I write. I don't really focus on coming in with the punches early; I try to build off of something small related to the record, artist, etc. and link it to an overall theme or element that I feel defines the album later on.
I can definitely see how that can lack an immediate pull, and I'll see if I can improve in that area. That is the point of a review, is it not? Not everyone is interested in rambling and just wanna know if the album is good or not real quick.
I appreciate the brutal honesty, sometimes that's what's needed.

"Instead of The Smeezingtons, who have taken the reins on production on the last two Mars projects, newcomers Shampoo Press & Curl come out of nowhere"
From what I understand, The Smeezingtons were Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine, and "Shampoo Press & Curl" is just Mars and Lawrence minus Levine. I'll find a source for that if you want.

This isn't really a "source" but I guess it's what's being speculated at least.

Woah, thanks! I tried to find some info on Shampoo Press & Curl and came up with nothing. I just assumed they were a new production team altogether. I'll fix the review asap.

I went to a pub like restaurant and suddenly this song came up from nowhere and I said, WHAT THE FUCK MAN?, and then I saw Bruno Mars and then it made sense. It is actually catchy but nothing worthy

listened to a few off this and it was great, will probably check out

No worries! I guess there's speculation that Brody Brown, the guy who has co-writes on most of the album, is the third member of that production team and basically "replaced" Levine, but it's totally unclear at this point lol.

Might listen. Kind of surprised by the positive reviews. I actually dislike this guy quite a bit based on his previous albums. Corny, boring, lyrically trite, etc.

Expect to like this if you're into retro 80's-funk vibes
otherwise you might not dig

This is well executed and I could see why someone would dig this a lot but it's a bit grating to me personally
