That's a huge issue with a lot of hard rock bands, way too many songs. I guess it works when you're trying to pump out as many singles as you can, but for people who listen to albums as a whole it can ruin it if you have 3 or 4 cash ins.

Alright, after listening to the album a bit more, I'd give it a higher score than I initially did. My complaints about the production still remain, but God damn, almost all of the songs are a great journey the deeper you head into the album (but this, in turn, does create a problem with the album's pacing). ... I still don't really like the ballads though. They don't compare to Wayward One, Watch Over You, Lover, etc.
Nonetheless, it's a strong effort from AB, but we know they can do better.

Listened to this again on the way to work this morning and it's still very good. Show Me a Leader, Writing on the Wall, Crows on a Wire, and Twilight are all such compelling political rockers.

I find it boring and too simple (don't know how to explain that but it seems to me that the album has been done in autopilot). And I really enjoy Mark's voice in Tremonti albums, too bad he doesnt sing more on AB like Jerry Cantrell can do in AIC for example (tho maybe not a good example).

I may be approaching it the wrong way, but if I want complex and different I don't go to AB. I got into them with Blackbird which was one of their most accessible records, so in my mind AB perfection is tied to that approach for them. This is no Blackbird, but a lot of the songs (like the above mentioned) really hit that sweet spot that I didn't get as often out of ABIII or even Fortress.

I love whole "Show me a Leader" - 5 points.
Good refrain "Crows on a Wire" - 3 points.
Heavy and catchy "Island of Fools" - 4 points.
Interesting sounds "The Last Hero" - 4 points.
Not entertaining me "The Other Side" - 2 points.
Hopeful ballad "My Champion" - 5 points.
Nice solo "Poison in Your Veins" - 3 points.
Kind of familiar "Cradle to the Grave" - 3 points.
I do not know song "Losing Patience" - 3 points.
Increasing energy, 2 solos "This Side of Fate" - 4 points.
Real beauty "You Will Be Remembered" - 5 points.
"Twilight" - 4 points. (Thanks to Spotify I could listen)
"The Writing on the Wall" - 3 points. (Thanks to Spotify I could listen)
I like most solos. Choruses are overaly better than the rest of songs. They are really loud and heavy with lots of melodic stuff. One third are wannabe ballads.

'Show Me A Leader' is arguably one of their best songs to date
