Vegan birds are more accepted in today's society tbh.

Have only heard the singles, but how did Akerfeldt okay the mastering on this?

God knows, compressed even by Nuclear Blast standards.

"Congratulations Mikael; you can write phrases with clichéd, pretty sounding metaphors, that’s not how you write an album that stacks up to the rest of your discography."
Oh, why did you have to delete that beautiful sentence? :[ Someone should kill his darlings.

Compressed halfway to hell, guitar tone is complete shit bar solo sections, and nothing has any impact.

@Maco: I didn't delete it, I just altered it to not seem like such a personal jab at the vocalist.

It was still pretty spot on, after all, Mikael is Opeth, at least nowadays.

I mean, he may be the driving writer, but the other members do have a say after all.

I always kind of wished these were a series of EP's or a totally different project from Mike tbh. Think a "Heritage EP" would've been well received with their next studio release a continuation of the Damnation sound.

I'm waiting for a Blackwater Park style return to form tbh

Or at the very least, a side project from one of the members that resembles Blackwater Park

I would rather them not even bother with them metal if their heart isn't in it. Growling isn't coming back and neither is the "modern" metal. They'll probably go as heavy as 70's Sabbath in this current iteration.

Nice review man, I sincerely hope your're wrong but I wasn't expecting blackwater park pt 2 or anything so I'm not too surprised

Think about it, a Heritage EP would let them freak the fuck out on their 70's stuff and let people go "oh, so that's what they sound like when they go full prog. haha heritage, I get it!"
People would love it, one hundo percent. If you took all the best songs from the last 3 albums and put into the EP I think it would be quite enjoyable tbh.
