Yeah, the White Album is a beautiful 50/50 between peak Lennon phasing out and scatty Lennon moving in
Ig everything after probably is more the story of McCartney egoing up and Harrison tryna prove himself

"Lennon did kinda fall off in the late 60s ngl. By the end they're Paul's band as far as I'm concerned"
from what i saw of the documentary, this is certainly true by '69

Don't get me wrong he definitely had good stuff through the end but he stopped carrying albums the way he was in 65 and 66. Sadly probably had to do with the heroin.

Always loved The Night Before as well.
I definitely appreciate this album more as the years have passed. It’s a bit throwaway and a bridge from the mop-top stuff into the LSD stuff but still one of the greatest things ever recorded.

gets absolutely bodied by Rubber Soul and stabbed in the back by a Hard Day's Night from the early Beatles end but hmm yeah, there's no messing around with the good bits

I don't think anyone would ever hold AHDN up as a mature record lol
doesn't change the fact that it just has more gud tracks than this one, if not the same tier of highlights. them numbers don't lie

Whoever decided to put "D.M.L" as final track should be judged by crimes against humanity.
Overall, a great album with 4 big highs and too many average lows. Still, its their 2nd best album before Rubber Soul.

I could see this as the best Beatles album, definitely was my favorite as a kid when I was around 5 or 6 years old for awhile.
