I love the vocals here, and honestly for the life of me cannot figure out what there even is to dislike about them.

^that yeah

although the songs I initially hated were not the first 2

in fact, the first 2 were the ones that really sucked me in and convinced me to give the full thing a shot

so I dunno

I STILL haven't listened to this, but I enjoy their debut.

My advice would be to get past those first two tracks. A lot of the deep cuts are super strong. "Rube Goldberg Variations" and "Psychopomp" are too good not to get to.

I hated the sound of the voice from the singles but the first two tracks sold me otherwise. I'm in the exact same boat as ash.

I actually heard the first two songs and then had to turn it off (I wasn't paying attention anymore, it was at the same time that someone messed up the front page with that band name, lol).

"The reason people don't like the vocals is because the guy sounds like every singer at the intro of each anime."

I tried this and it's killing me because I love everything about it except for the vocals, but I really dislike the vocals. It's like everything annoying about the cleans on a Periphery album, except the guy, for good measure, has the inflection of the vocalist in a 90s boy band.

Yeah, I agree. They are bad. Not unique. Not convincing. The vocals are the last thing about the band that should be highlighted constantly, but here we are.

I didn't think they could follow up their first album but this is really impressive. Totally worth the wait.

might drop this to a 4 but it's really a 4.25

a couple of these tracks are just too long; they'd lose nothing from being shortened even though they're still totally listenable

some of the middle is a bit forgettable too, but most of this jams mad hard

This is a really solid modern-prog record, just can't help but agree that some of the songs could've been written tighter. It can also be an exhaustive listen, despite the clean production and hella smooth instrumentals going on.

Pretty darn enjoyable nonetheless!
