Absolomb is a top 5 Periphery song and I wish they'd focus on that direction more tbh

Absolomb has the best build-up they've ever done in a single song, and its atmosphere just seems so calculated during their composure of it. Timeless song.

100%.
The following is a tracklist of a "guaranteed 5 stars from Venin" Periphery greatest songs release. Something with a similar feel to all of these and you've got me.
Muramasa
Letter Experiment
Scarlet
All New Materials
Heavy Heart
Absolomb
The Parade of Ashes
Sentient Glow
Mile Zero
Pale Aura
Satellites

Absolomb is absolutely the standout from this album for me, it's the only track I regularly revisit. I remember out of boredom one day I spent a hot minute rewinding over and over just trying to memorize that opening rhythm, it rules

Really surprised to not hear the intros of Alpha or Omega, solid build-up songs. The ones in this list are just obvious classics.

Fair enough Tayne, those are wonderful!

Love seeing The Parade of Ashes on your list, venin. That NIN vibe is excellent with Spencer's voice

Parade of Ashes is one of my absolute favorites. Unsurprising as I also love Endur and basically all the other Spencer projects I listened to.

Revisiting this and might be worthy of a 3.5 after all.
Even if the chorus for Marigold and The Way the News Goes are awful. Particularly News.
Everything else goes from good to great, even the gay notez on Catch Fire.
