"Now that's a 5/5 kind of album"
not even close, you couldn't even tell it followed the same blueprint this did until I pointed it Ben Kettle lmao

I had only heard this once at the time, and Skeleton Tree follows its own blueprint. And “not even close” you have it at 4.5 :P

Yeah!!
"follows its own blueprint"
To a point where people think it's too "out there" and "inaccessible" (from some accounts I've heard when it came out) although lo and behold, someone else already did a decade earlier.
Find it in your heart, you know it to be true (neither this or Manafon is a 3 or 3.5 though lmao)

Skeleton Tree wins by default because it doesn't have anything like The Good Son, She is Not, and How Little... but the rest of this is excellent. Still not as good as Skeleton Tree tho, despite the similarities.

because my inner contrarian needs to have an argument
(listening to them in a live context with added electronics would probably suit you a bit more though)

"Like blemishes against the skin... truth sets in"
Such a fantastic song, and really great lyrics on this overall. Had to bump up my rating while on my first full listen in a while, and noticed the average is at 4 now, which is cool.

every song is atmospheric perfection. inexplicably using glitch in the best way (ala that wonderous year, 2003), and synths that bring about such a gleaming sound of urban futurism, along w the guitars that sound like the folk song sounds of a far off human culture. all while sylvian offers some of his most emotional melodies yet recorded through intricate ambient layers and light percussion, as sublime as ever.

That's a really cool description, and agreed.
For the Love of Life is a great song that was released just a year after this.
