Only thing that the new 1996 has over the old one is better solo imo, but the rest is pretty meh

I noticed that on the new ones Jesse holds back on a lot of the higher notes, particularly in verses. I think the 1996 demo sounds more free flowing because he lets his vocals go wherever it feels natural in accordance with the melody. On all the re-recordings (not just 1996) he seems to be forcing the darker vibe a little bit.

This is literally the most second annoying band when it comes to being cool to their fans in regards to material, only behind Tool.

Yeah definitely that sowing, specially in the intro.

Think this might be the first time since A Tout Le Monde that I have two versions of the same song.

Agreed they've been an absolute tease in terms of releasing material. It would be one thing to just not release anything and not say anything either, but that's not at all what they do.

The other week I realised this band hasn't released an album in the whole time I've been listening to them. Weird thought

I've had that happen too with bands I've been catching up on

Kinda makes it a cool experience when they finally do release something new though

I can't really think of anything like that which fulfilled the hype. Godspeed comes to mind

Deja was my first in 2005, then right at the peak of my infatuation with that record they dropped The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me in 2006. It was the perfect storm, I never stood a chance of resisting eternal fanboyism.

I'm massively late as well. First Brand New song I heard was Guernica through my girlfriend at the time back in 2013/2014, but I'm still a pretty big fanboy though. It's grown at an exponential rate since we broke up.

I was introduced to The Quiet Things through NHL 2004 or whatever year that was, then my gf in 2005 introduced me to the rest of Deja. I broke up with her a week later b/c tbh I was dating someone just to date someone (which is horrible, but I was in HS so I dunno). I always joke around that her introducing me to BN was the best thing that came of my relationship with her, so I guess I'm still horrible.

I don't like Sowing Season. Sowing Season, on the other hand, is cool.

I'm not really proud of it but I'm glad it's entertaining. We all do dumb stuff when we're young.
