not taking to this quite as immediately as I did La Gargola, but still a really strong release. "Punchline" is easily the highlight for me right now.

This thread sucks.

I agree we should assblast kbridges for 8 pages instead of discussing the album again

This is easily Chevelle's best since Sci Fi Crimes

Why does this guy have to ruin other threads too? :/
As far as using the same riffs over again, that's expected since Chevelle has been staying in their own sound for quite a while now... It doesn't bother me though, and I haven't noticed that actually. Maybe because I had not listened to Chevelle for a while too

I've listened to this thing a handful of times this morning and it's a disappointment to say the least.

I just think it's pretty repetitive and dull. Might need further listens.

I think it's marginally better than La Gargola, and I gave that album a 4.5

Chevelle is definitely the best hard rock band out there for sure. They stay in their comfort zone, but always throw a wrench in the mix to show that they can do others sounds and experiment a la "Punchline". The bass is heavier than ever, and Pete's lyrics are weirder than ever. This album crunches, and is a bit overwhelming at times with all the layering, but that is a good thing. I do agree that some of the guitars sound rehashed, just mixed up a bit. You cannot tell me that "Warhol's Showbiz" doesn't sound exactly like "A New Momentum".
Standout tracks for me: Door to Door Cannibals, Last Days, Punchline, Got Burned.

honestly Warhol's Showbiz reminds me more of Jawbreaker than ANM, but I can see that comparison too

Is it me, or is the production on this thing really bass-heavy?
