Title track rules, in fact every track rules

closer sucks though
|
| |
Low Lands should be considered the proper closer and the final track as a simple outro. And Low Lands is great.
|
| |
yeah but that's not how it works
|
| |
What doesn't work? Think it's pretty obvious that they weren't trying to wow anyone with the last track, it's clearly meant to be a simple outro with Low Lands serving as the climax

The ending to Lowlands should have been the ending to the album. That final acoustic part would have wrapped everything up perfectly.

They wrote Liberation right after their mom died. So I could see why they placed it as the final track. Big deal. If you don't like it, turn it off after LowLands.
This album got better with every listen. Think Pray and Silvera are my favorites!!

Pray and Silvera are the best tracks on here. Also, Yellow Stone is great even though its just an interlude.

There's about four solid songs on here. Pretty disappointing, but these guys have clearly been losing it.

Hadn't listened to Gojira in ages, was looking forward to hearing some very aggressive stuff to get me through my workdays.
Well, my initial thoughts were nothing less than a big disappointment, riffs especially sounded weird and weak. But still, I somehow managed to give it another spin and suddenly I'm on my nth replay.
Glad I gave it another try, probably my favorite release of theirs as of yet.
The songs I'd label as excellent are The Shooting Star, Silvera, Magma and Pray.
Listing Shooting Star and Magma here feels kinda weird for I initially disliked both of them.
Also, the vocals on this release are, for me, the best they've ever been.

Only heard the whale album once or twice and it felt a tad too repetitive. I should try their other stuff too; especially Infant Sausage intrigues me based on its t/t single. Still, I felt like this is the first time I really care about this band here.

The Way of All Flesh is my fave, definitely their most complex and diverse album. New one is completely different but they play the style so well.

This just sounds like the skeleton of traditional Gojira songs just without everything that makes Gojira awesome. The drumming seems like it takes a backseat compared to their other records too. My problem isn't the lack of heaviness, it just sounds dull and boring overall.

i actually thought this was the band magma, releasing an album called gojira
and not vice versa lol
