Good man, became a dad this year and already training my son to be a music lover. This is in my top 5 atm along with Ulcerate, Cobalt and others (Neurosis, Howls of Ebb, Crowbar, Megadeth, Interloch all in the running, among others).

You catch Ulcerate on tour this year? I'd love to catch these guys but haven't seen them come through

one for one bro haha. couldn't catch Ulcerate this time since i'm not in thr States but my own son is a healthy year and a half. good picks too; didn't care for megadeth but the rest are solid. my fanboyisms for neurosis and meshuggah are still strong and are in my top ten for sure.

dude congrats back at ya! true enough, i'm making sure he has his musical foundation strong by surrounding him with old school rock, blues, and jazz

Saw a vid recently of the man talking about his gear. He is truly an erudite on the matter and very humble at the same time.

Listened a few times over the past few days. Really cool sound and I enjoy it a lot if it is a bit vanilla compositionally.

Maybe it just isn't clicking with me but it feels a bit overly simple.

and yea this was directed differently to how Oceanic was, not an overly fair comparison

Yeah I wouldn't compare the two.

Honestly I don't feel like I can even articulate what I mean at this point outside of saying that it feels a bit same-y. I'll have to keep jamming it and maybe it will come to me or maybe I'll drop the criticism after more listens lol.

I do enjoy it quite a bit though, would probably 3.5 it if I rated today.

I understand an over-familiar sound coming from this, sometimes there's only so much a limited amount of members could do especially when Turner didn't want to over-track to pull off this massive sound in live settings, yet he can do more than most 3-pieces can do in those regards. if following the lyrics can help you to settle into passages, then by all means. they're pretty cool too.

I enjoy it more each listen so maybe I'll overcome the feeling of sameness.
