Oh my god the lyrics on this. I think I need to bump it down actually.

lyrics are fine for the most part, granted they aren't exactly subtle tbh

They are pure cringe, but I wouldn't expect a rainbow colored frog to get that.

This is a solid comeback, sounds like Fire and Air combined and just about edges it over Major/Minor. Welcome back, Thrice.

Lyrics are career worst. Music is on par with old Thrice. But fuck those lyrics... New Posture and the Grizzly and Hotelier easily beat out this and new Saosin.

2nd half is better than the 1st half. Whistleblower is the worst on the 2nd half but it's still better than Blood in the Sand and Wake Up. Black Honey thru Death From Above is the best sequence on the album.

Wake Up truly sucks. Easily the worst chorus of Dustin's career.

I mean, the lyrics aren't Beggars tier for sure, but I don't really have a big problem with them. Most of the songs here at least have better lyrics than Call It in the Air.

Yeah it's really not top-tier Thrice whatsoever but it's still good, and they're already writing a new album. Considering that this record was written individually by members of the band, that it came together as well as it did is enough of a feat. I can only imagine how the album would have sounded if Eddie had gotten his way and they went for a heavier, more intense direction.

most of the good songs were released before the album

I feel bad for liking Stay With Me considering how easy that chorus is but it actually is one of the more enjoyable songs here

Lol if you like a song, you like it. Feeling bad is a misguided feeling.

They do the accessible chorus thing so well in that song but at the end of the day, they still made such an accessible chorus. I don't know, I was hoping for something better than that.

I was hoping Dustin would drop the whole Christ/God stuff by now

yeah this is strong enough for me to still be very excited about/have faith in the new album they are already writing. I really hope they drop the heavy-rock direction tho, it's become stagnant for them for sure

Great review, Mongi. I'm not too hot on this yet, but I've only heard it once all the way through. Black Honey is way better when I'm not reading the lyrics- not that they're bad, but they distracted me from how cool the music is.
