experimental and avant-garde are not the same thing. Especially not alternative lol

They're just one of those unidentifiable genres to me, I don't know Flug! lol

This is pushing the genre forward, but it still hasn't reached what I would consider an apex.
Deathcore has a lot of potential that most bands choose to waste

I call it shitty modern prog metal(core)

Aight I think we figured out your opinion a couple pages ago my man

"Deathcore has a lot of potential that most bands choose to waste"
I dunno man, you think so? I have no idea where else it can go. Take djent for example, it is pretty much done.

Well djent imo never had a chance, it's fundamentally limited even when paired with other genres. Vildhartja took it in its darkest, most in-depth direction imo, we'll see if they can maintain that.
But deathcore has yet to be pushed again like with Contortionist's Exoplanet or Ascariasis' Ocean of Colour. Something that throws deathcore into a melting pot of other genres and irons away the cliches
I personally want to see a post-metal/deathcore mix, which to my knowledge has never been done.

have you ever heard agent fresco or vola? Both bands are amazing (from island and danemark respectively)

Yeah man, I'm a big VOLA fan and I spread them around everywhere. I just feel like djent is out of energy and dying out due to its limitations
Agent Fresco is a new one tho, will check

I like your optimism Mars

I'm not really optimistic tho, I'm pre sure we'll never get another deathcore band that tries to take a sufficient risk.
It's less optimism and more my conviction that deathcore could churn out a 5 in my book if its potential was realized
Honestly disappointing to see promising concepts go to waste. Generic heaviness still sells though so if people want a serious career making dxc I suppose there's no incentive to try something exciting and new
|
| |
i don't think deathcore or djent are out of steam tbh
thrash was pretty much dead until vektor and vhol came along, fingers crossed both djent and deathcore will see a few acts who can revitalize the scenes
both styles typically get the hard end of the stick but there are plenty of exceptions to the rules

yeah honestly most deathcore is generic and been done many times before.
this is probably one of the few good bands that pull roots from that genre.
i wouldn't really call this release deathcore though
|
| |
The issue with djent imo is that the bands that released "game changers" are taking waaaaay too long to release their next album and the momentum is pretty much dead by now. i.e. Uneven Structure and Vildjarta

Vildhjarta better deliver, those boys got potential
|

how the fuck is agent fresco djent (i love em though, but they have like 3 or 4 songs with heavy guitar parts)
