sleepmakeswaves are the heroes of the new generation of post-rock imo. You wont find more talent in another group of musicians than what those guys have among them. I think Mono are returning to form too. Their song in the split with The Ocean was awesome and I really like the epic new song that they've been playing live over the past year. Godspeed's new songs that they've been playing live for the past year are awesome too. I never tire of quality post-rock and there's so much of it too.

sleepmakeswaves is fantastic, agreed. Explosions too, their new album is one of my most listened to post-rock albums of the year so far.

Not all new post rock is bad, I'm probably the biggest Jacob fanboi on this site, but this year this is the first thing I've enjoyed. Yndi Halda and Explosions were just bland.

Ursa is my AOTY, but this is among my favorite post-rock and ambient of the year.

Try Jagga Jazzist for some amazing 2015 post-rock. Or maybe Yuri Gangarin if you like it a bit more on the traditional side. Those are honestly the only 2015 post-rock albums I'd rec.

Now that I just said this a day ago, I realize that I like the new Mogwai release very very much. (Just when I was starting to think that I was done with that band)

Despite all the great post-rock that's been made in recent years, it's still too bad that genre pioneers Talk Talk (after the new wave/synth pop), Slint, and Bark Psychosis only had 1-2 full-length releases each, all from over a decade ago.

It's ok though cause Bark Psychosis and Talk Talk are timeless.

Ehh timeless maybe, but I find that record to be hella overrated.

It's a pretty different side of post-rock compared to this or Talk Talk, reminds me of Leaves Turn Inside You in some parts.
