I really am impressed at how good this is for a modern Weezer record. It's quite consistent and the songwriting is as strong as anything since Pinkerton. I also find it surprising that people rated it so closely to the previous album. That one sounds like a parody of Weezer in my opinion. This album just sounds like a poppier version of '90s Weezer, which works fairly well.

well no not really. Rivers and Jennifer Chiba had known each other since like '92 and dated on and off, and Elliott Smith died in '05. The Other Way was about Rivers wanting to console her after he died but not being sure of his own intentions, if that's what you're referring to, but that's a pretty ungenerous misread lmao

im on board with it yea sequencing/transitions between songs are especially good on it. not sure how much im gonna come back to it (i just generally dont come back to this band that much tbh) but its definitely the best thing of theirs since this
